Artist Biography: The work of Victor Mira (Larache, Morocco, former Spanish colony, 1949 - Breitburnn am Amersee, Munich, 2003), closely linked to his biography, has been recognized by international critics for its ability to synthesize informalist procedures with the figurative dimension, along with the very personal recreation of some of the traditional genres, such as still life. In addition to her pictorial work, Mira stood out for her production in the field of sculpture, ceramics, installation and graphic work, without forgetting the enormous production of drawings that she produced throughout her life. Another central aspect of his art is poetry, to which he has devoted himself vertiginously, leaving as a trace books of a careful execution. Whatever the medium chosen, his work is illuminated by a drive and relevance as singular as it is consistent, his corpus becoming the extreme manifesto of the search for the absolute. Starting from the Christian iconography of Catholic Europe, Mira undertakes in his works a subversive work for its integrity and commitment. Among his most recurrent themes are his stylists, referring to the legend of St. Simeon. His iconographic representation, which extends to later series and defines his most personal style, is executed from mostly seated figures and profile, always loaded with intense feelings of loneliness, lack of communication, the passage of time and an immanent transcendence. In addition, Mira felt the need to explore plastically the musical universe of two of his main references: Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven. In series such as Bachkantaten, two of the most differentiating elements of Mira's universe can be glimpsed: the colors blue and black and the Greek cross. His work is part of museums and public collections such as the Albertina Museum (Vienna, Austria), Los Bragales Collection (Santander), Cortes de Aragón (Zaragoza), Diputación Provincial de Zaragoza (Zaragoza), Gobierno de Aragón (Zaragoza), Graphische Sammlung in der Staatsgalerie (Stuttgart, Germany), Kunstmuseum (Basel, Switzerland), MoMA Museum of Modern Art (New York), Museo de Bellas Artes (Vitoria), Neue Galerie der Stant (Linz, Austria) or the MNCARS Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid).
