Flavia Robalo - Tailwind
Technique: Carving
Artist Biography: She is a prominent contemporary sculptor born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1973. From an early age, she was interested in the visual arts, and began her education in painting and sculpture at the age of 11. In 1991, she decided to further her training in marble and became a student and assistant to sculptor Orio Dal Porto, which allowed her to develop her technique and explore new materials. In 1997, Flavia undertook her first trip to Pietrasanta, Italy, where she continued her training as a sculptor and began to exhibit her works in a succession of symposiums and artistic activities. It was at this stage of her career that she began to gain international recognition and awards related to her work. Her work is characterized by a careful attention to form and texture, which allows her to create sculptures that seem to have a life of their own. Flavia has exhibited her work in various galleries and museums around the world, including Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina. Her sculptures have been the subject of numerous publications and her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Pietrasanta Prize (Italy, 2013), the Grand Prize at the Salon des Arts Plastiques de Sannois (France, 2015) and the Special Jury Prize at the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli International Sculpture Biennial (Canada, 2017). He continues to explore new techniques and materials in his quest to create sculptures that reflect the beauty and complexity of human life. His work continues to inspire artists and art lovers around the world.Tulipier wood. Unique work. With great sculptural skill, Flavio Robalo creates an atmospherically dense cosmos centered on female figures that seem dreamlike and immersed in themselves. In formal terms, he develops his protagonists in the field of tension between movement and pause. Behind each work hides a fictional story. The artistic interest lies not so much in the story itself, in the representation of certain incidents, but in the exploration and visualization of deep human emotions such as vulnerability, strength, freedom or loneliness.
