Artist Biography: Born in La Antigua Guatemala in 1988, this contemporary artist began her artistic career in the residencies that Espira/La Espora carries out in Nicaragua, where she had the opportunity to learn about contemporary painting and new media. Although her work has developed mainly around painting, she has also experimented with video and public interventions, and has participated in various group exhibitions internationally, such as the International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo in Quito, Ecuador, Turnachkinder Haus in Zurich, Switzerland, the World Bank Main Complex in Washington D. C., and the Centro Cultural de España in Spain.She is co-founder in Guatemala of the MarES Association (Mediación Artística Educación y Desarrollo), which promotes critical and reflexive education in contemporary art through ARCALAB (Arte y Cultura Contemporánea en el Laboratorio). In addition, she has carried out joint projects with visual artist Alberto Rodriguez in public interventions.The artist has explored themes such as identity, memory, body and landscape through her work. She uses elements such as the human figure and nature, which combined create her own visual language that highlights her interest in the perception of reality and subjectivity. Her work has been recognized by critics and has been part of several private collections, she began her artistic career in the residencies that Espira/ La Espora carries out in Nicaragua promoting the art of the Central American isthmus, in which she has contact with contemporary painting and new media, although her works have developed mainly around painting, she has also experimented with video and public interventions in which she has carried out projects together with the visual artist Alberto Rodriguez. She is co-founder in Guatemala of the MARS Association (Mediación Artística Educación y Desarrollo), which promotes critical and reflective education of artistic expressions with special emphasis on the visual arts, through educational platforms such as, the Laboratorio de Arte y Cultura Contemporánea ARCALAB that she coordinated during 2013-2014, promoting the participation of young artists and the creation of networks that promote the approach to cultural activities. She has worked in different public and private institutions as a facilitator of artistic expression workshops, she also participated as artistic mediator of the 19th Paiz Art Biennial and together with Javier Payeras was in charge of the conduction of the radio program of this event. She has been invited to participate in different group exhibitions such as: Biennial of Visual Arts of the Central American Isthmus (BAVIC) 2014, XVIII Paiz Art Biennial, International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art at the Contemporary Art Center of Quito (Ecuador), Turnachkinder Haus, Zurich (Switzerland), World Bank Main Complex, Washington (USA), Cultural Center of Spain (Guatemala), among others.In Palmadotze and with the curator Imma Prieto, she participated in the group exhibition "Landscapes. The stigma of the social (Els Monjos, Barcelona, 2015) and in the IN/OUT program of Swab 2016. This curator also included her in "Beyond the Tropics", which was exhibited at the IUAV University of Venice, coinciding with the 56th Venice Biennale, and was produced by the University together with the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), and the collaboration of Loop Barcelona and the support of AC/E Mobility grants. She is currently an artist in residence at FLORA ars+natura in Bogotá, Colombia. Winner of the Luis Javier Castro grant for Central American artists.

Materials and care
Recommendations for the proper conservation of works of art:
  • Keep works of art away from direct sunlight and any other source of heat (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging works of art near smoky and polluted areas (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We advise you to protect the paintings with a glass frame.
  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature. It is recommended to keep the paintings in areas with an ambient temperature of between 18-20º and 50% relative humidity.
  • If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
