Technique: Gelatin-silver bromide on baryta paper
Artist Biography: Aitor Lara is a Spanish contemporary artist born in Bilbao in 1985. From a very young age he showed interest in art, which led him to study Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country. There, he had the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and artistic disciplines, from painting and sculpture to photography and video art.His work is characterized by a strong conceptual charge and a constant concern for exploring the limits of contemporary art. Aitor Lara is interested in themes such as identity, memory and popular culture, and uses art as a tool to reflect on the society in which he lives. In his first exhibitions, Aitor Lara showed a clear influence of pop art and surrealism, but over time he developed his own style characterized by the use of mixed techniques and unconventional materials. In his works, one can find elements as disparate as neons, everyday objects, old photos and scrap materials, all combined with great technical skill and a deep knowledge of contemporary visual language.Among Aitor Lara's most outstanding exhibitions are "Identidad y memoria" (2012), at the Galería Muga de Beloso in Pamplona, "La cultura popular en el arte contemporáneo" (2014), at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, and "El tiempo y la memoria" (2017), at the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. In addition to his career as an artist, Aitor Lara has also worked as an art teacher in various educational institutions, and has participated in numerous workshops and conferences on contemporary art. With his work, he has managed to consolidate himself as one of the most interesting and promising artists of the current Spanish art scene.
