Artist Biography: Pedro Almodóvar is one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of Spanish cinema and one of the most prominent figures in world cinema. Born in Calzada de Calatrava, Ciudad Real, in 1949, Almodóvar began his artistic career as a member of an underground theater group in Madrid during the 1970s.
