Hiroyuki Okumura

Hiroyuki Okumura's work does not respond to a specific time or space, it behaves as a symbol for themes such as time, light, nature, movement and balance, concepts outside of a tangible reality, leading to a dialogue between the viewer and the work. His work has been exhibited in more than 50 solo and group shows and is part of both private and public collections in Japan, Mexico, Bulgaria and France. He has lived and worked in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz since 1989. In this city he decided to develop his career because of the inspiration he finds in Mexican pre-Hispanic art. He works in stone sculpture; marble and quarry are his favourite materials.
