The Beast and the Soul

La bestia y el alma, MP&MP ROSADO's exhibition proposal for Alarcón Criado at the start of the 20/21 season, is forged in the reading of Viaje alrededor de mi habitación (Journey around my room). The text, written by Xavier de Maistre at the end of the 18th century during an obligatory 42-day confinement in Turin, is, in the words of Enrique Vila Matas, a literary myth of Borgesian shadows, a journey through immobility.

That the interior space can contain immensities, that the individual can contain multitudes, is something the artists have been working with since the beginning of their career. Under the present circumstances, this main area of their work takes on a new potential and has led them to reclaim the intensity with which we have related to private space; to highlight the profound dimension of our own intimacy.
