Meet Sara's selection for RedCollectors
Sara Zaldívar is an architect, art advisor and cultural manager who founded Huntress of Art seven years ago. Don't miss the selection of works Sara has made for RedCollectors, as well as her opinion and perspective on the way artists work.
:MentalKLINIK
BuyThe artist duo Yasemin Baydar and Birol Demir are :mentalKLINIK. Yasemin is metal (the one who has the ideas and Birol is Klinik who develops and realises them). Their works reflect on the essence of truth, while making the viewer contemplate whether they are true or not. Is this work truly a Rothko, or is it a totally high-tech version 3.0?
All his works are brimming with happiness, partying, good vibes and are developed with the most cutting-edge techniques of the moment.
mentalKlinik will also be residents of our artist residency EL NUCLEO in 2023. We are looking forward to seeing what they will be able to create in Spain.
Juan Uslé
BuyA beautiful painting (as they all are) by the master Uslé, one of our most international artists of the 80s generation. His painting is defined as minimalist abstraction, where repeated strokes create a harmonious composition of great beauty that could well resemble musical scores. Uslé says that he works by listening to his heart and that he applies each of those strokes for each beat. I can almost hear it too.
Richard Mosse
BuyWhen I first saw this series by Irish photographer Richard Mosse, many years ago, I was struck by it. Using infrared film, he documented the war in the Congo in a different way, capturing the beauty within the tragedy. Using this film, designed for aerial surveys of vegetation and to identify camouflaged targets in military contexts, the chlorophyll of the plants becomes a series of pinks and purples, creating this unexpectedly attractive palette of colours.
Regine Schumann
Buy
Regine Schumann's use of colour and light is fascinating. The photos certainly do not do justice to the sensations that the works generate live in the viewer. Schumann's methacrylates react to natural light in very different ways throughout the day, creating beautiful reflections and radiations. And if you also apply a black light, the spectrum doubles. Schumann was one of our guest artists at EL NUCLEO in 2019 and made a beautiful limited series for us. I confess that I have one of her pieces of ethereal and almost spiritual beauty at home and it is without a doubt one of my favourites.
Esther Gatón
BuyThis very young Spanish multidisciplinary artist builds environments through sculptures, audiovisuals and lighting. Esther does not project her creations, but faces the work without a specific plan, letting herself be carried away. In this process of becoming, the artist creates unresolved forms that invite the spectator to look for a meaning or an end to them, thus making him or her a participant in the work. I like this work in particular for the wise use of disparate materials and organic forms that result in a sculpture of great sensuality.
Saelia Aparicio
BuyI have been following the young Saelia for some time now, winner of many prizes and awards. Always transgressive, her work is a critique of urban speculation, inequality and pollution, and she is also consistent in that the materials she uses are always environmentally sustainable. Drawing is her natural medium and she explores sculpture and installation as if they were 3-dimensional drawings. This sculpture "Eco Warrior" interests me a lot, both aesthetically and formally.
Gerold Miller
Gerold Miller's minimalist, abstract works are halfway between painting and sculpture. His aluminium pieces with shiny lacquered finishes in clear colours have an almost mirror effect. Colour block, geometric shapes, seemingly simple compositions, extremely elegant. I particularly like the works he does in black and I think this one can fit in almost any space.
