Paco Dalmau - Evolution 30 VIII
Technique: Mixed media on canvas on board.
Artist Biography: Paco Dalmau was born and raised in Spain, where the passion and temperament of its culture became an intrinsic part of his artistic practice. Since 2012 the Valencian artist has been based in Rotterdam, where the conceptual and methodological influences of Dutch artistic culture have permeated his most recent projects. This cultural crossbreeding defines his current line of work, where passion, method and concept converge in his creative proposal.Paco Dalmau's artistic trajectory is structured in different series/projects, in which the artist has basically explored two artistic disciplines: painting and installation. Through his interest in these two branches, each series has aimed to explore different themes. Polípticos (2008/2011) was dedicated to the study of psychological portraits in large format, combining painting and installation. Combining painting and installation.Fractions (2011/2013) was an approach to minimalist painting and its relationship with the installation, through the use of lighting and the expository flexibility of the pieces, the goal was to transform the space through volumes, lights and shadows. White Wall Project (2013/2018) works on the aspects of public art, site-specific installation, social participation and how to make unconventional exhibition proposals. Retuns (2014/2018), a series framed within the expressive abstract painting, focused on the realization of highly nuanced color paintings, blurred and with great chromatic richness. This series laid the foundation for the last and most recognized of his series, Evolution. The artist lives at the B.A.D foundation and works at Studio Pompstraat 44C in Rotterdam. From 2017 until 2021 he has been director of the White Wall Foundation, which was dedicated to the development of his public art projects. Currently, his artistic practice is entirely focused on the development of the Evolution series, a series of abstract paintings. Dalmau has been awarded grants by Mondriaan Fonds and CBK Rotterdam among others, exhibited his works at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam and won several awards during his career.
