Nolvenn Le Goff - Paris

Technique: Collage

Artist Biography: Nolvenn Le Goff is a French artist born in Mexico City in 1975. She began her artistic training in Paris, where she studied Print at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Her work is characterized by being multidisciplinary, using diverse media and techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. Le Goff is interested in social and political issues, and often addresses themes such as identity, memory and history. In his work, he uses a minimalist and refined aesthetic, which can sometimes be described as cold or distant. However, his pieces can also be emotional and evocative, using materials such as glass, porcelain and cement to create a dialogue between form and content.Le Goff has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in France, Germany, Mexico and other countries. He has also received numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Scholarship for Artistic Creation of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts of Mexico in 2003, the artistic residency award of the Casa de Velázquez in 2006 and the Research Grant of the French Institute of Latin America in 2009. His work is part of public and private collections in Mexico and other countries.

PAPER CITIES Cities have always been considered symbols of the greatness and power of the Human Being. The need to dominate and subdue nature in order to favor comfort has been taken to the extreme, increasingly distancing it from our daily lives. We have created a "bubble effect" where our perception of reality has been deeply affected. The Human Being has ceased to be human, to become an omnipresent, dominating and transforming God. He no longer has to compete with nature for survival, but with other gods like himself, in a fierce struggle to accumulate material goods and comforts. But this is an illusion, even if we feel safe in our concrete paradises, it is the hand of nature that truly sustains us. We must learn to look beyond the bubble, recover our role in the balance of nature and appreciate the comforts that are offered to us at their true value. IF WE CONTINUE IN THIS WAY, WE WILL DISCOVER THAT OUR BIG CITIES ARE AS FRAGILE AS PAPER. Nolvenn Le Goff Of Mexican and French origin, Nolvenn travels to Barcelona in 2005 to pursue a Master's Degree in Marketing after completing a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and two specializations at the School of Design of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico in Editorial Design, Multimedia and Advertising Creativity. In 2010, Nolvenn made the decision to prove herself and begin her formal journey through the art world. She questions herself about the role of the artist, the themes that interest her and the way to reflect them in her future projects. This year two of them are born based on her environmental concerns: a playful project based on artistic recycling and Paper Cities. These Paper Cities have been one of their most rewarding projects, both technically, aesthetically and conceptually. The cities won an international contemporary art competition (bARTcelona, 2010), allowed him to spend 2 months of artistic residency at the ecomuseum La Papeterie de Vaux, in France (2012) and participate in the Art Capital art show at the Grand Palais in Paris.
