Matthias Bitzer - Corner
Artist Biography:
Matthias Bitzer is a German contemporary artist born in 1975, known for his work in painting, drawing and sculpture. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in 2002 and has exhibited his work in galleries and museums around the world. Bitzer's style is characterized by his interest in the intersection between abstraction and figuration. He uses geometry and abstract forms as a framework to explore human and existential themes. He often incorporates elements of architecture and engineering into his work, creating a sense of structure and order. In addition, his pieces are often presented in series, forming an ongoing exploration of the theme or idea. Bitzer has received several awards and accolades throughout his career, including the "la Caixa" Foundation's ARCO Award in 2015 and the City of Nuremberg Contemporary Art Award in 2011. His work has been exhibited in major art institutions such as the Kunsthalle Nürnberg in Germany, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey in Mexico and the Galería Casado Santapau in Madrid. In addition to his work in painting, drawing and sculpture, Bitzer has also ventured into the creation of installations and site-specific projects. His works in this field explore the relationship between art and space, and often include interactive or participatory elements.
