María Ortega Estepa - Like this, as when something goes through your universe from the inside to stay IV
Technique: Mixed
Artist Biography: María Ortega Estepa (Córdoba, 1983) holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville where she currently lives and works as a visual artist. She is an Art Therapist graduated from the University Pablo de Olavide, completing her training at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. She develops her work in different media: painting, drawing and mural intervention... with a work closely linked to the social and educational field since its inception. Maria has been working in the street since 2008, when she came into contact with the Saharawi people through her first mural in a context of political conflict. Since then, her activity is not limited to a particular support or place, since she works both in the public and private sphere, hospitals or social centers, leaving her mark with a very subtle and powerful work in almost all the places where she performs her interventions and workshops, always interacting with the public with whom she intervenes. She currently works in the neighborhood of the three thousand homes in Seville as head of the plastic arts workshop of Fundación Alalá and coordinates the educational workshops of the INICIARTE Program. As a visual artist she works with several galleries in Spain, and has received numerous awards and grants that have led her to exhibit in places like the CAC Malaga or BilbaoArte, her work is part of numerous collections both private and public. With ATLAS, María Ortega Estepa reflects on our place in the world and existence through an autobiography that is not narrative but experiential in nature, which the author transforms into collages, drawings or paintings. The frame is an accumulative game: signs, traces... converted into graphic lines and facts, signs that acquire their own entity.
