Katja Strunz - Untitled
Technique: Collage on paper, framed
Artist Biography: Katja Strunz is a German contemporary artist born in Ottweiler in 1970. Known for her sculptures and installation works, her work focuses on the relationship between architecture and memory.Through her work, Strunz uses industrial materials and geometric forms to create sculptural structures that explore the temporality and fragility of memory. His works often evoke a sense of nostalgia and contain references to history and culture, as well as modernist and post-war architecture.Strunz has exhibited his work worldwide, including at the Venice Biennale and Documenta 13 in Kassel. He has also had solo exhibitions at renowned institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt and the Kunsthalle Basel. In addition to his work in sculpture and installation, Strunz has also explored other techniques such as drawing and photography. In his "A to Z" series of drawings, for example, he uses a pyrography technique to create abstract images that resemble letters of the alphabet.Strunz studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg and currently lives and works in Berlin. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and grants, such as the Pollock-Krasner Foundation scholarship and the DAAD Berliner Künstlerprogramm scholarship.
