Juli About - À nos enfants
Artist Biography: Juli About (Avignon, 1974) is a ceramic expert who particularly enjoys experimenting with contrasts. The conceptual axis of her work revolves around issues related to memory, identity and perception, to reflect on the vulnerability and pleasure of the female body, childhood and the earth. White ceramic, which is normally perceived as rigid and immovable, in her hands is transformed into something fluid, changing and flexible. This material, which possesses texture and volume, invites the viewer to touch it to discover if it is really as soft as it seems. For Juli, working with ceramics is a process that goes beyond the fragility of the material; it is also a reflection on the fragility of our being in the world. Ceramics is a material that requires care, which reminds us of the importance of taking care of the world we inhabit.
