JESSICA STOCKHOLDER - Sale a way
Technique: Mixed technique
Artist Biography: Jessica Stockholder (Seattle, USA, 1959) is one of the most influential sculptors of her generation. Her work spans about three decades and is characterized by a commitment to color and materials. The way objects are interpreted has become a hallmark of Stockholder's creation, as she engages both the spheres of conceptualization and construction, through associations between the identifiable and the abstract. Stockholder's interest centers on the assemblage of objects of different nature and provenance. Her work is an interrogation of the heterogeneous through an additive process of superimposition of materials, in which she brings together objects from the real world and objects created by her without causing chaos, due to her control of space and of what it contains, with which she manages to create an order among what at first sight seems chaotic and unconnected.Stockholder's interest focuses on the assemblage of objects of different natures and origins. Her work is an interrogation of the heterogeneous process of superimposing materials. In this process, she combines objects from the real world and objects created by herself, without creating any chaos, thanks to her control of space and its contents, where she achieves an order that at first glance may seem chaotic or incoherent.
