Artist Biography: JAN SCHÜLER Gießen (Germany), 1963 The German painter Jan Schüler studied Communications Design and Fine Arts. Schüler is one of the most representative artists of the new European figuration. His portraits allow us to enter scenes of everyday life, where the characters question us with their gaze. However, the landscapes of this artist are more austere and transmit serenity. Schüler was awarded the First Prize for Visual Arts in Düsseldorf in 1996 and in 2010 he received the Miraculum Lucis Award. From 1985 to 1993 he studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Rissa and as a master student with Fritz Schwegler. During her studies, Schüler also performed as a singer together with Justus Köhncke.
