GIORDANO RAIGADA - Pantagruel IV
Artist Biography:
In 1565, Richard Breton published "Les songes drolatiques de Pantagruel", a book without text that presents 120 enigmatic creatures, oscillating between the comical and the sinister. The mystery of the book stems from both the drawings and the theories about its authorship. The title refers to the medieval "droleries," burlesque figures from 13th century France. Salvador Dalí was inspired by this book for his lithographs "The whimsical dreams of Pantagruel" (1983). This photographic work seeks to connect the viewer with the satirical and ironic character of the images, exploring two directions: "outside-inside" (capturing external scenes) and "inside-outside" (creating scenes from internal ideas). My images combine photographic shots and digital self-portraits, depersonalizing the character with a hat and coat. This character serves as an alter ego to reflect and philosophize about the world and myself, acting as a catharsis for my conflicts. The philosopher Markus Gabriel speaks of the "composition" of the work of art, including the work, the place and the viewer. Pantagruel claims this "composition" in his exhibition discourse.
