Artist Biography:
Fantastic Man explores the way in which national currency creates or imposes an identity and social functioning. The Perlatos series is the materialization of a constant dialogue between the digital world and the material reality, where Fantastic Man manipulates the base images through Artificial Intelligence, to later take them to the physical support, and make a handmade fabric, where the result are pieces that in their re-composition show what would be a handmade Glitch provoked in woven paper. Brief text of the Perlatos series: Fantasticman, a digital artist who works on handmade supports, reflects: to found a new Republic it is necessary to have a source of financing, and therefore, it is essential to have a monetary system that sustains it.... That is what is required to create Los Perlatos. The Perlatos series is the materialization of a constant dialogue between the digital world and the material reality, where Fantasticman manipulates the base images through Artificial Intelligence, to then take them to physical support, and make a handmade fabric, where the result are pieces that in its recomposition shows what would be a Glitch caused in handmade woven paper. "Perlatos is an artistic project that arises from the invitation to carry out an artistic residency in Venezuela, which could not take place due to the complex political situation that coincided with the dates scheduled during the summer of 2024. One of the recommendations I received was to get American dollars, since the bolivar, the local currency, had lost much of its value. This advice led me to reflect on the economic system and how, from its deconstruction, a new system emerges, creating "errors in the network", a recurring theme in my work: The Glitch. Perlatos proposes the creation of an imaginary country, with its currency and characters, inspired by the song Caracas from the year 2000, where cockatoos are mentioned with a nostalgic and hopeful air, alluding to a city in transformation. This is how the Boliplume Republic of Perlacatú" -FM- arises.
This work includes a certificate of authenticity. A certificate of authenticity is a document from an authoritative source that verifies the authentication value of the work of art. Recommendations for the proper conservation of works of art:
- Keep works of art away from direct sunlight and any other source of heat (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging works of art near smoky and polluted areas (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We advise you to protect the paintings with a glass frame.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature. It is recommended to keep the paintings in areas with an ambient temperature of between 18-20º and 50% relative humidity.
- If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
