Eduardo Urdiales - La afligida
Biography of the Artist: Eduardo Urdiales (Almería, 1998) has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada and a Master in Interdisciplinary Production from the University of Malaga. Since he began his journey through the art world, back in 2019, his work has been exclusively focused on black and white drawing, where, through immense experimentation, he has managed to become a true master. His prolific production has allowed the artist's work to be exhibited in competitions throughout the country, such as the XXV Certamen de Dibujo Gregorio Prieto (2019), the LI Certamen Internacional de Arte de Luarca (2020) or Arte Aparte XVI (2024), among many others. In addition, he has group and solo exhibitions in many of the most important cities in the Spanish art world, being Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga the most notable. To write about the work of Eduardo Urdiales is to speculate on the heaviness of human existence. The power of his images lies in the attraction of the theatrical character of his compositions and their apocalyptic yet everyday atmospheres. His compositions are nourished by directed illuminations to exalt characters, dense atmospheres to produce emotional and dramatic environments, theatrical and surrealist resources transferred to the language of drawing in pursuit of a narrative that not only depends on the literal representation, but also on the context and the situations in which the protagonists of the drawing find themselves. It is not necessary to understand his works, they simply grab you.
