Artist Biography: Curro González is a Spanish contemporary artist born in Seville in 1960. He trained at the School of Fine Arts in Seville, where he studied painting and Print. Throughout his artistic career, he has developed his own language and a great ability to combine elements of pop art, surrealism and abstract expressionism.In the 1980s, Curro González began to exhibit his work in galleries and museums throughout Spain, and his work became increasingly known and recognized in the artistic field. In the 1990s, his work evolved towards a more expressionist and gestural style, in which color and matter acquired a leading role.In his work, González uses a wide variety of techniques and materials, such as oil, watercolor, collage, Print and sculpture. His works are usually populated by a series of characters that are repeated and transformed into different works, such as the "Fly Man" or the "Butterfly Woman".Throughout his career, Curro González has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as the National Plastic Arts Award in 2002 and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2006. In addition, his work is part of important public and private collections around the world, such as the collection of the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, and he continues to work in his studio in Seville and to exhibit his work in galleries and museums around the world. His work continues to be one of the most original and recognized in the contemporary Spanish art scene.
