Cesc Abad - Classic Garden
Technique: Enameled ceramic
Artist Biography: Cesc Abad, an artist born in Barcelona in 1973, has developed a strong passion for man and his relationship with nature throughout his years of experimentation. After studying the great masters of painting, Abad has found his technical tool in post-impressionist brushwork and history in symbolism. This mixture is reflected in his artwork, which is both figurative and conceptual, the result of an introspective task from the point of view of nature.Abad's main work is done in large formats using oil and acrylic paint. In addition, ceramics also have a very special place in his art. Rather than being an archaeological discovery, Abad's ceramics are an iconographic discovery with multiple figures and readings. They are accompanied by a very special coloring that confers to his works an infinity of visions and interpretations. The narratives that we can observe in Abad's ceramic works try to explain certain actions that can be as everyday as desire, lust, mystery or passion. All these concepts are intrinsically linked to human nature. The viewer can enjoy different stories or moments that enrich the human condition. In a way, they are somewhat reminiscent of Sumerian bas-reliefs, whose stories were configured in strips or registers around the vessel and whose initial content was fundamentally religious and votive.Abad's ceramics feature a wide variety of colors, including yellows, greens, blues and reds, which give them a brightness somewhere between kitsch, pop and natural. His artworks allow people to observe the landscape in a different way, as if one could approach a piece of forest. One simply has to slide one's finger on the screen to discover sometimes a real animal world, sometimes a dreamlike world and sometimes a dystopian one. Overall, Abad's art suggests many questions to the viewer, making it an introspective experience worth experiencing.Throughout his years of experimentation, Cesc Abad (Barcelona, 1973) has developed a special interest in man and his relationship and effect on nature.
