Artist Biography: Beth Moysés is a Brazilian artist born in 1960 in São Paulo. She graduated in Fine Arts in São Paulo and specialized in Visual Communication, earning a Master's degree in Fine Arts at the State University of Campinas and a PhD in Communication and Semiotics at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. She is a feminist activist and collaborates assiduously since her beginnings as an artist with women's groups against abuse, making participatory works with a great social charge. Her work is characterized by themes such as identity, memory and the human condition. Moysés uses a variety of media, from painting and drawing to installation and performance, to explore these themes in a profound and poignant way.Moysés' artistic quest focuses on her own personal experience and that of those around her. She has worked closely with vulnerable communities, such as homeless people and women in prison, using art as a tool to empower these people and give them a voice. Through workshops and collaborative projects, Moysés has created safe spaces for these communities to express their own stories and connect with their own creativity.Moysés has also explored identity and personal memory in her work. In his series of paintings entitled "Restless Memory," he used the technique of frottage to capture the texture of everyday objects and give them new life on canvas. These paintings are a meditation on the passage of time and how objects connect us to our memories and our own personal history.Through her work, Beth Moysés demonstrates that art can be a powerful tool for personal and community connection and empowerment.
