Beatriz Olano - Carnival
Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Artist Biography: Beatriz Olano (Medellín, 1965) is a Colombian artist who trained in the United States, obtaining a Master's degree in Fine Arts at The Milton Avery School of Arts. Her work has been exhibited in various cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, San José de Costa Rica, Havana, Canada and Lima, among others.Olano's work is characterized by the use of geometry, color and line, in addition to the important relationship with objects, space and the three-dimensional approach. In his work one can notice the influence of other artists such as Mondrian, Malevich or Rothko, but with a personal approach that focuses on intervening space to modify the way it is perceived. In addition to his training in painting, Olano also works with other disciplines such as drawing, sculpture and installation. His work consists of finding, deconstructing and reconfiguring objects, materials and everyday spaces to transform their reality and break the limits between them. For Olano, space is his starting point and the creation of his works takes different forms and is made with different materials, always linked to a geometric language typical of abstract art. The presence of color reflects the instinctive character inherent to her, using tones in an intuitive way to achieve a strong presence and a good connection with the space.
