Artist Biography: Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012) fue un pintor y escultor español considerado uno de los artistas más influyentes del siglo XX. Nació en Barcelona y estudió derecho antes de dedicarse a la pintura. Tras contraer tuberculosis, abandonó sus estudios y comenzó a pintar en 1946.Su obra se caracteriza por el uso de materiales no convencionales, como tierra, arena, yeso y objetos encontrados, que incorporaba a sus cuadros para crear texturas y relieves. Además, su estilo se asoció al movimiento del informalismo, una corriente artística que se caracterizaba por la abstracción y la espontaneidad en la creación de las obras.Tàpies comenzó a exponer en 1948 y rápidamente ganó reconocimiento por su trabajo. En la década de 1950, su obra se expuso en importantes exposiciones internacionales, como la Bienal de Venecia y la Documenta de Kassel. En 1953, fundó el grupo Dau al Set, un movimiento artístico que reivindicaba la libertad creativa y la experimentación en el arte.A lo largo de su carrera, Tàpies realizó múltiples exposiciones en todo el mundo, incluyendo una retrospectiva en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona en 1962 y otra en el Museo Guggenheim de Nueva York en 1995. También recibió numerosos premios y reconocimientos, como la Medalla de Oro de Bellas Artes en 1983 y el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes en 1990.Además de su carrera como artista, Tàpies también participó en la política española. Fue miembro del Senado español en la década de 1980 y se unió al partido político catalán ERC en 2004.Antoni Tàpies falleció en Barcelona en 2012, dejando un legado artístico importante en el mundo del arte contemporáneo.

- If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
