Alfonso Albacete - The Source
Artist Biography: Born in Antequera, Málaga, in 1950. He is a Senior Technical Architect in the specialty of Urban Planning, Gardening and Landscape at the School of Architecture of Madrid. He trained with Juan Bonafé between 1959 and 1967. Subsequently, he studied Fine Arts and Architecture in Valencia and Madrid. We can situate his work at the intersection between figuration and abstraction, with paintings of strong chromaticism, which we could qualify as records of moments, places and lived sensations filtered by memory. His solo exhibitions at Marlborough Gallery include ''Analogue Paintings'' (2020), ''Destiempo'' (2017) and ''Piezas cortas'' (2019). He has also exhibited ''Vanitas (MAXAM Calendar 2019)'' at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, and ''Internal Affairs'' at the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art in Seville (2014). He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid between 1991 and 2003. Since 1995 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of VEGAP. He has been awarded the ''Outstanding Artist'' award at the Gentleman Awards (2021), and the D'Achtall Observatory Award for the Visual Arts (2013).
