Aixa Portero - Ucronía
Technique: Oil on wood
Artist Biography: An artist from Malaga trained in Fine Arts (Painting and Sculpture) at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada, she completed her degree studies at the Sint Lukas Hoger Instituut in Brussels and developed an interest in new trends in art, new media and the culture of Peace, completing her training abroad.Uchronia is the possibility of a different reality if something had changed in the past. The object of the mask, not being used as it was conceived, is used as a swing or seat from which to observe the world. The same object that for us symbolizes the loss of freedom, which is the mask, frees the turtle. Keep in mind that it is painted in a classic, anachronistic way, and the classic is timeless. It also looks from the near future. The perception of reality of each observer makes the instant something different in the same space, even if they are two different rooms. Everything is defined by a different observation of reality. The turtle has a Velezquian look inquiring the viewer inviting him to interpret and thus brings time into the painting (it is classic, painted as something old that has passed but that passes at the same time and will be looked at from the future, because the turtle invites the viewer from any moment in the timeline). The birds are a detail of freedom and hope, the turtle implies wisdom, but slowness, and its shell alludes to ostracism, but its attitude despite the difficulty, is free. The longevity of the turtle implies that everything is a matter of time.
