julia puyo - Time Capsule
Artist Biography: Julia Puyo is a Spanish artist born in Vitoria in 1968. She studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country and later completed her training at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy. She is known for her abstract and minimalist work, which combines geometric elements with textures and sober colors.Puyo's work is characterized by the exploration of light and shadow, and the creation of illusory spaces in which the elements seem to float in the air. She uses materials such as wood, steel, iron or aluminum to create her sculptures and wall reliefs, which are usually presented in serial formats and in series.Among the awards and recognitions she has received, it is worth mentioning the First Prize for Sculpture in the National Art Contest of Luarca (1994), the Grant for Artistic Creation of the Basque Government (1995), the Special Mention in the VIII Biennial of Sculpture City of Oviedo (2003) or the Grant for Plastic Arts of the Government of Navarra (2008).Julia Puyo's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad, including countries such as France, Italy, Portugal and Morocco. Her pieces are part of collections of museums and institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao, the Provincial Council of Alava or the Art and Patronage Foundation, among others. His work has been valued by critics for its formal rigor, its ability to create atmospheres and its relationship with the architectural environment in which they are integrated.
"Too Big to Fail/Too Big to Jail", an expression that alludes to financial institutions that are too big to fail and are so huge and opaque that some of their economic practices go unpunished.
