Javier De Juan - Picknick in Paradise
Technique: Acrylic on paper
Artist Biography: Artist belonging to the generation of comic artists of the late 70s and early 80s. He appeared in the art world in connection with the movida madrileña. Since then, he has worked from a conception of art as a present and transforming element of civil society, seeking presence and visibility through media, techniques and content. All his work is based on drawing as a hunter of ideas and as the basis of all artistic creation. These concepts have led him to work with all possible languages. From comic strips to large murals, among others in Barajas airport in Madrid or on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands. From collaborations in the press and on posters, to projections on façades in recent years and installations. It is curious, but absolutely true, that in our memories there may coexist such unsuspected things as those stories -which we were told were sacred- taken from the biblical trunk of the Old Testament, and which we were told at school, during religion classes. I must confess, with hardly any modesty, that I loved those stories of heroes, battles, epics, deaths and sex, yes, you heard correctly, sex too...
