Inma Herrera & Shirin Salehi - Threshold of the White
Technique: 17 modules of pigmented plaster, incisions and sand on painted MDF base
Artist Biography:Inma Herrera (Madrid, 1986) and Shirin Salehi (Tehran, 1982) form a visual artists' collective that investigates the language of Print in relation to sculpture, video and installation.
Through their common practice, Herrera and Salehi relate the grammar and poetics of the processes of creation in multiple art, exploring the concepts of matter, time and ritual, in an open space of continuous interrogation about metalanguage and the role played by the body in the process of creation.
In 2019 her project proposal, Un Punto Fijo para Orientarse, was awarded the 2019 Pilar Juncosa and Sotheby's Biennial Prize 2019 from the Pilar and Miró Foundation in Mallorca, exhibited in 2021 in the Foundation's spaces. Her work, at the individual level, has been recognized through numerous artistic residencies and awards, highlighting the scholarship of the Academy of Spain in Rome (Herrera, 2017, Salehi, 2020), Ducat Prize 2020 (Herrera), Ankaria Foundation Award 2015 (Salehi). Both have been nominated for the prestigious The Queen Sonja Print Award in Norway. They live and work in different cities, Herrera in Helsinki and Salehi in Madrid.
