Francisco Farreras - ST (Small Format Series I/II)
Technique: Painting and collage
Artist Biography: Francisco Farreras is an artist born in Barcelona on September 7, 1927. After the Civil War, his family moved to Murcia and later to Tenerife, where he began his art studies under the tutelage of painters Antonio Gómez Cano and Mariano de Cossío. In 1943 he settled in Madrid and studied at the Escuela de San Fernando, where he graduated as Professor of Drawing in 1949. During his artistic career, Farreras has stood out for his work in geometric abstraction, influenced by his trip to France in the 50s. In the 60's, he focused on the production of collages with silk paper, with a clear oriental inspiration. In the 80's, he became interested in wood and its expressive power, creating works assembled to a surface, and in 2004, Farreras began to experiment with new techniques and materials in search of synthesis in his works. It was not until 2006 that he began to exhibit his work, which has led him to receive the Medal of the Madrid Association of Art Critics for the best exhibition of 2006. Since then, his work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and art centers, both in Spain and in Portugal and Germany.Farreras' work is characterized by his ability to synthesize shapes, colors and materials, achieving a refined aesthetic and a great expressive capacity. His work has been highly valued by critics and has received important recognition in the contemporary art world. Today, his artistic legacy is a reference for new generations of artists in Spain and the world.
