Erick Beltrán - Multiplicity versus Unity
Artist Biography: Erick Beltrán is a Mexican contemporary artist who works in a wide variety of media, including photography, video, installation, and drawing. Born in Mexico City in 1974, Beltrán studied graphic design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico before pursuing a full-time artistic practice. One of Beltrán's main concerns in his work is the relationship between word and image, and how the two can be used to create complex meanings and messages. Often, Beltrán uses techniques of appropriation, taking elements from popular culture and art history and manipulating them to create new and surprising combinations. Erick Beltrán has been recognized with several awards and recognitions throughout his artistic career. These awards are a sign of the recognition that Beltrán has obtained for his work, both in Mexico and abroad. His work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world, and has been the subject of numerous publications and exhibition catalogues.
