Artist Biography: Cruz Novillo is a Spanish artist and graphic designer born in Cuenca in 1936. He is one of Spain's most recognized and respected designers, and has produced iconic works such as the logo for Spanish public television, RTVE, and the postal brand, Correos España.He began his career in graphic design in the 1950s, working for advertising agencies and designing movie posters. In the 1960s he founded his own agency, Estudio Cruz Novillo, and began to develop his distinctive style of minimalist, geometric design. He also began experimenting with creating sculptures and works of art in public spaces, such as the fountain in the Plaza de la Merced in Cuenca.In the 1970s and 1980s, Cruz Novillo became a reference in the world of graphic design in Spain, working for companies such as Renfe, Iberia, Telefónica and the National Lottery. He was also one of the founders of the Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungría in Seville.Throughout his career, Cruz Novillo has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the National Design Award in 1989 and the Velázquez Award for Plastic Arts in 2017. In addition, his work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums around the world.Today, Cruz Novillo is still active in the world of design and art, and has continued to explore new projects and techniques. He is considered a reference in Spanish graphic design and one of the most influential figures in contemporary art in the country.
