Antonio Samo - Boy with Wolf
Technique: Basswood and spruce
Artist Biography: Antonio Samo is a Spanish contemporary artist born in Valencia in 1984. From a young age, he showed interest in art and creativity, so he decided to study Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he graduated in 2008.During his artistic career, Samo has developed his own style that combines elements of popular culture, technology and social criticism. He uses different techniques and materials to create works that explore themes such as consumerism, globalization, identity and communication in the digital age.Among his most outstanding works are the series "Nadie", "Fauna y Flora" and "Reliquias". In the "Nadie" series, Samo creates sculptures of different everyday objects wrapped in aluminum foil to reflect the alienation and anonymity of today's society. In "Fauna and Flora", he uses stuffed plants and animals to explore the relationship between man and nature. In "Reliquias", Samo uses old and obsolete objects to question the value of memory and history in contemporary society.Samo's work has been exhibited in various galleries and museums in Spain and other countries, including the ARCOmadrid Contemporary Art Fair, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona and the Contemporary Art Center of Malaga. In addition, he has received several awards and recognitions, such as the National Young Art Award in the category of Visual Arts in 2012.Samo continues to work in his studio in Valencia, experimenting with new materials and techniques to create works that continue to question and reflect on the issues that interest him. His work is considered an important contribution to the contemporary art scene in Spain and the world.
