Angela Valella - What Disappears Is The Spooky
Technique: oil on printed acetate capturing the digital sound of protests around the world
Artist Biography:Ángela Valella (Havana, Cuba, 1948) is, in addition to being an artist, a curator and pedagogue. Her work transitions from two-dimensional to three-dimensional space with great ease, in a continuous revision of dogmatic schemes. In recent years, Valella has been progressively increasing her presence in Miami's cultural life with projects of diverse and collaborative nature, such as The Nightclub, active since 2012, a sort of nomadic platform that seeks to build content and establish a dialogue between different artistic practices, through curated exhibitions in different venues, which are exhibited during a single night. Last year, Valella also received the Cintas Fellowship Award, the highest award given to Cuban artists in exile. Valella's work is fundamentally concerned with the reuse of objects and spaces in an attempt to create new models of dialogue and ways of relating them.
