Artist Biography: Lubin, Poland, 1967 Citizen of Sweden and USA Lives and works in London Aleksandra Mir's work revolves around projects that highlight the frictions between the private and the public, the local and the global, the intimate and the collective. Her training in Cultural Anthropology and Audiovisual Communication has led her to explore the strategies commonly used by the media. These strategies are also used both in the exercise of power and in intersubjective relations, two areas that make up the territory of Mir's artistic practice. Despite the particularly speculative nature of the subjects he deals with, the resulting works possess a subversive, almost playful element that effectively brings them closer to the viewer. Likewise, many of his pieces require the collaboration of communities and the direct involvement of the different collectives in the elaboration of the pieces themselves.
