The rustle of paper
"El susurro del papel", the inaugural exhibition of the 2021-2022 season at the Galería Rafael Ortiz in Seville, is an exercise, or perhaps a vindication, of the use in the plastic arts of a millenary medium such as paper, emphasising the masterly use made of it by some of the current Andalusian creators who employ it with total freedom: Rubén Guerrero, Miki Leal, José Miguel Pereñíguez and Jorge Thuillier.
In this project, techniques as diverse as graphite, charcoal, acrylic paint, oil or felt-tip pens give the measure of the nobility and ductility of the material. A support, in principle, less compromised, on which one tries out, improvises, but on which one also achieves fresher, freer results.
