Artist Biography:
Wilfredo Prieto (Cuba, 1978) is a Cuban conceptual artist. He studied art at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana. Known mainly for his installations, objects and performances, he has an extensive production on paper that runs parallel to his larger-scale projects. Most of his works have the ability to juxtapose two different realities. His work questions the basic structures of contemporary culture and reflects on consumption, society and thought itself. He was a member of the artist collective Galería DUPP (Desde Una Pragmática Pedagógica), with whom he received the UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts in 2000. He has participated in artist residencies at Headlands, San Francisco, USA (2015); Gasworks, London, UK (2008); Le Grand Café, Saint-Nazaire, France (2007); John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, New York, USA (2006) and Kadist Art Foundation, Paris, France (2005).
This work includes a certificate of authenticity. A certificate of authenticity is a document from an authoritative source that verifies the authentication value of the work of art. - Keep works of art away from direct sunlight and any other source of heat (heating, air conditioning, etc.). Avoid hanging works of art near smoky and polluted areas (such as fireplaces or kitchens). We advise you to protect the paintings with a glass frame.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature. It is recommended to keep the paintings in areas with an ambient temperature of between 18-20º and 50% relative humidity.
- If the work is to be permanently illuminated, we recommend the use of cold light bulbs. Use a soft feather duster for periodic cleaning of the work. Never use household cleaner.
