His work continues to be relevant and admired in the world of contemporary Spanish photography.
Strangers' is the result of two decades of work. It explores Castro Prieto's most intimate and personal universe, the latent traces of the gaze, the devastation of memory, underlining the dreamlike and literary aspect of everyday life, elements that are present in all his work. In a suggestive circular format, the artist painstakingly captures fragments of 24 carat gold leaf on silver gelatin with a final layer of glass that highlights the strokes giving the whole a surprising sharpness. The gold gives a new layer of meaning to the series as an allegorical material of the futility of human beings and their dreams.
