Toño Barreiro - Signum VI
Biography of the Artist: Toño Barreiro (Zamora-1965) , graduate and doctorate in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, has been developing, since the mid-eighties, a multidisciplinary work where he questions the limits of the pictorial medium, through the game with sculptural elements and the rupture of the traditional framework of painting. His latest project presented at Shiras Galeria focuses on objects and their possible changes, converting the simplest reduction into a range of possible representations through a cemented path towards exploration, leading to a series of flexed, articulated and retractable planes created between black, red and white planes.Toño Barreiro has been awarded several prizes and scholarships throughout his career. In the last year it is worth mentioning his second prize in the II Biennial Mª Isabel Comenge, as well as the recognition accésit ex aequo obtained in the Prize Senyera de Artes Visuales 2020. In addition to all this, he has collaborated in multiple researches and publications. In addition, the artist has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, participating in numerous national and international art fairs, including FIAC, Artissima, MACO, MIART, Art Madrid and ESTAMPA, among many others. In addition to all this, his work is present in many private and public collections, among them: MUSAC, Edinburg College of Art, DKV Art and Health Collection, REPSOL, Global Art Collection, etc. Likewise, he also has several publications by prestigious critics such as: David Barro, Rafa Martí, Juan Bautista Pérez Peiró, etc.
