Artist Biography: Tübingen, Germany, 1972. Lives and works in Seville, SpainThroughout his career Matias Sanchez has built an abstract painting that includes a very personal type of figuration with expressionist influences. His work can be understood as a loudspeaker of the society in which we live, through the constant flow of images, television, sensationalist press or the prevailing mediocrity in the institutions. At ARCO in 2003, a 6 meter oil painting of his was on the front page of the newspaper El País announcing that edition of the fair. His work has been exhibited in contemporary art centers such as CAC Malaga, where he had a solo exhibition, or the CAAM - Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria). In recent years he has participated in important international fairs such as MACO 2013 - Mexico Arte Contemporáneo, Art Stage Singapore 2013, Art Monaco 2013, India Art Fair 2013, Contemporary Istanbul 2012, Art Toronto 2012, Art Moscovo 2012 and Beirut Art Fair 2012.His work can be found in collections such as the Art Museum of the University of Southern California.
