LISARDO MENENDEZ - 1.1.LX1.4R
Technique: Acrylic on linen with methacrylate
Artist Biography: Lisardo Menéndez is an Asturian artist born in Mieres in 1960, known for his work in painting and sculpture. His work is characterized by an exploration of form and color through geometry and abstraction.Menéndez studied at the School of Fine Arts in Oviedo and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. Since then, he has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Spain and abroad.Throughout his career, Menéndez has received several awards and recognitions for his work. In 1993, he was awarded the National Painting Prize by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. In addition, he has been selected to participate in important contemporary art exhibitions, such as the Venice Biennale and the Madrid International Art Fair.Menéndez's work is characterized by a minimalist and geometric aesthetic, in which he explores the effects of light and shadow through form and color. In his most recent work, he has explored new techniques and materials, such as resin, wood and iron.On monochrome backgrounds, Lisardo composes still, enigmatic and dynamic structures in a completely personal style. The order, balance and simplicity of his paintings immerse us in a pictorial constructivism in which blacks, whites and reds predominate in a geometric abstraction with subtle figurative allusions to architectural forms. Minimalism and Van-Guardism combine in the theatricality of his compositions.
