Alba Escayo - Blue Mountain
Artist Biography: He was born in Avilés, Asturias, in 1981. Traveling and discovering new places is an inspiring force in her work. Escayo holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid and attended the National Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Italy. In 2011, he received a master's degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. His work is present in museums, public and private collections. Escayo has been selected for many art residencies and has collaborated on international projects. He has had several solo and group exhibitions in Madrid, Asturias, Singapore, the Balkans, France and Portugal, among many other places. Escayo's paintings are produced in a wide range of forms, from small postcard formats to large, wall-sized creations that use acrylic, oil, ink, and other mediums in combination. The paintings have a texture, collage and vibrant energy. In these works, the natural world often interacts with the artist's world: explosions of color, hidden text, line, and space combine into an explosion of life. In addition to painting, Escayo also works with photography and new media. Since 2012, she has been actively exhibiting in Singapore and collaborating with local artists.
"A moon, two, a bird, a flower, constellations of elements that order and disorder the painting." My work focuses on offering a contemplative view of nature, without pretending to represent it literally. An intimate look at nature, where you can wander between the strokes and the colors. Each element is a reminder of the beauty and mystery that surrounds us. The night is the point of reference, with nature as the protagonist, the city and humanity silenced in the dark. A search for the light and color that shines in the landscape before disappearing into the dusk. Alba Escayo May 2024
