Beatriz Vazquez - Beauty of Fate I (La Belleza del Destino I)
Technique: Oil and graphite on canvas
Artist Biography: Beatriz Vázquez is a Spanish painter, who uses in her abstract landscape painting the psychology of color and her natural environment in Asturias (rural area of northern Spain), as a constantly evolving source of inspiration. Beatriz received a classical training at the University of Fine Arts in her hometown, Seville, in southern Spain. Creativity has been present in her daily life since she was very young, always interested in drawing and looking at images in art books. Her paintings speak to us of the notions of abstraction, as well as the color palette of realist painters, such as Antonio López García. However, the painter employs strokes of delicate and neutral tones, and layers of acrylic and oil, which reveal traces of the memory of her reflection on the world, in a sensitive and devoid of ego way. Working on large format canvases, with acrylic and oil paint, Beatriz uses her research in color psychology to give the works a sensory effect: the harmonious tones of the work connect her audience to the landscape she creates in each painting. The texture is built through gestural marks that imprint the canvas, indicative of the time and thought that she pours into each of her pieces. He has been a finalist in several contemporary painting awards, exhibits regularly and sells his work to a national and international clientele: UK, Germany, Denmark and USA.The artwork BEAUTY OF FATE Diptych belongs to the series The Tapestry of Circumstance, which I worked on in 2022, and consist of medium and large format paintings in oil on canvas. For my creative process I feed on two aspects. The action of sketching, for weeks, without a set goal. I let my hand act, reflecting the landscape I see every day, or what it inspires me. And the vast reading I do and the notes I take. Little by little, the notes and the images come together, the fog dissipates, and I see and feel the theme that I want to develop in a series of canvases. It is something that has been forged within me, and now I can only bring it out through my painting. I paint what I cannot communicate in any other way. This series is inspired by and owes its title to the following poem by Wislawa Szymborska: The tapestry of circumstance is intricate and dense. Ants stitching in the grass. The grass sewn into the ground. The pattern of a wave being needled by a twig. So it happens that I am and look. When I see such things, I'm no longer sure that what's important is more important than what's not.
