Technique: Full stop, end of chapter. Santa Teresa's farmland
Artist Biography: Mar Arza is an artist born in Castelló de la Plana in 1976. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Valencia, with a period of study at Carnegie Mellon School of Art in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) and a Masters in Sculpture at Winchester School of Art (Southampton University, England), on a scholarship from the Cañada-Blanch Foundation. Her artistic career has been recognized with several awards, including the Guasch-Coranty Award at the Biennial of Valls and the ArtsLibris Award, granted by the Fundació Banc Sabadell, both in 2013. In 2016 she received the Swab-Mango Award for best young artist and in 2017 the DKV Emerging Artist Award for best gallery exhibition with the exhibition R E S Q U I C I O.Mar Arza's work is characterized by her interest in reflecting on space and the perception of power. In her solo show R E S Q U I C I O, at the Rocío Santa Cruz Gallery in Barcelona, she explored the space of a blank page and the fold as writing, pointing to a supposedly conceptual art. In her solo show at the Sala Miserachs at La Virreina, she conceived a three-way installation in which visibility conditions the perception of power, and in her show, Lecturas y consumos, at the Centre de Arte Santa Mònica, within the cycle Blanco bajo Negro, she showed the course of time that leaves its mark in parallel to the course of everyday life crossed by literature. Mar Arza is an emerging artist who has managed to stand out in the contemporary art world with her innovative work and her exploration of themes and concepts relevant to our society today.Mar Arza (Castelló de la Plana, 1976) has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Valencia, with a period of studies at Carnegie Mellon School of Art in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) and a Masters in Sculpture at Winchester School of Art (Southampton University, England), awarded a scholarship by the Cañada-Blanch Foundation. In 2013 she received the Guasch-Coranty Prize from the Biennial of Valls and the ArtsLibris Prize, awarded by the Fundació Banc Sabadell.
