Jorge Perianes - Untitled
Technique: Photographic printing and wood
Artist Biography: (Ourense, 1974) We see with the brain, not with the eyes, so it is important to analyze what our mind is based on to build and invent elements, what are its engines and what is the why and how of an interpretation of reality. These questions of science are approached by Jorge Perianes from the artistic practice looking for a possible edification and a positive discourse, in which distant symbols (in appearance) are united in a classical and poetic way to search for new meanings or "exits" to the world. Knowing that all our perceptions are illusory, that reality is illusory, handling signs and symbols is still relevant and it is to nature where Perianes often turns to find the root of our symbology and where he finds unexpected connections and concretions that invite us to reflect on artificiality, mental reconstruction, reification, the momentary and the outdated as elements to judge the real. Jorge Perianes has participated in numerous exhibitions, recently at the Gallery Max Estrella, at the Barjola Museum, Gijón, in 2015 at Centro de Arte Contemporanea Graça Morais, Bragança and the previous year at CEE Montevideo, Montevideo and at Horno de la Ciudadela, Pamplona. In 2011 he was invited to intervene in Abierto x Artworks, Matadero, Madrid. In 2008, the MARCO of Vigo invites him to intervene in its space. We see with our brain, not with our eyes, so it is important to analyze what our mind is based on to build and invent elements, what are its engines and what is the why and how of an interpretation of reality.
