Artist Biography: Jaume Plensa nació en Barcelona en 1955 y hoy es uno de los escultores más destacados y con mayor proyección internacional del mundo de las artes plásticas.Comenzó su formación artística en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barcelona y desde entonces ha trabajado en diversas manifestaciones artísticas, desde el dibujo hasta la escultura, la obra gráfica, los escenarios para ópera, las videoproyecciones y las instalaciones acústicas.Plensa es conocido por su habilidad para trabajar con una gran variedad de materiales, incluyendo resina de poliéster, acero, hierro, agua, cristal y nylon. Sus esculturas son interactivas y el espectador debe interactuar con las piezas. Su obra se basa en la dimensión del hombre y su relación con el entorno, y se ha convertido en un referente en el ámbito de la escultura contemporánea.Entre las obras más destacadas de Plensa se encuentran la escultura "Nomade", ubicada en el Rockefeller Center de Nueva York, y "Crown Fountain", una instalación en el Millennium Park de Chicago. Sus obras se han exhibido en importantes museos y galerías de todo el mundo, incluyendo el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona, el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York y el Centro Nacional de Arte y Cultura Georges Pompidou de París.En 2012, fue nombrado doctor honoris causa por la Universidad de Vic, en reconocimiento a su carrera artística y su contribución al mundo del arte contemporáneo.
