Biography of the Artist: Castilleja de la Cuesta (Seville), 1947. In Ignacio Tovar's painting, suggestive and evocative, the color compensates the structural effort, reaching a high aesthetic degree that sequesters the viewer's attention. His work is based on a slow process of decantation of a theme, water, represented by parallel curved lines that refer to the flow of a current of this vital liquid, a storyline that serves as an excuse and a handle to develop a painting in which he tries to create an atmosphere and a space so that, through suggestion, the viewer can give free rein to his own thoughts while he goes through the details of the painting. In his snapshots of the "Still Lifes" series, he uses natural light and his main interest is that at a given moment, a special atmosphere is created by the incidence on the objects placed on the table, respecting the rhythms of nature. In his artistic career, this Andalusian artist has received grants from the Casa de Velázquez, the Center for the Promotion of Plastic Arts and Research of New Expressive Forms of the Ministry of Culture, the March Foundation and the United Status Information Agency. His work has been shown in numerous Spanish galleries and museums, and there are currently works by him in collections such as those of the Museo de Arte Abstracto Español (Cuenca), the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (Seville), the Fundación Caixa de Pensiones (Barcelona) or the Biblioteca Nacional (Madrid), among others.
