Artist Biography:"Ex oriente lux is a project initiated during my residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris where, guided by my interest in the invisible face of existence and the search for new forms of knowledge and decoding of reality away from the hegemonic discourse, I was investigating the theoretical legacy of certain French occultists of the nineteenth and twentieth century. This exhibition represents a first approach to the conclusions that emerged from this study imbued, in turn, by the fundamental principle of occultism - "as above, so below" - contained in the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus. Furthermore, this postulate, also known as the Law of Analogy, finds resonances with the Law of Correspondence, or non-discriminatory recognition, the basis of Eastern philosophies and Andean indigenous cultures, which have been important influences in my previous projects. Thus, the historical relationships of Freemasonry, between masonry and cosmos, are manifested in small pieces of possible landscapes of planets still unknown, found in the Louvre Museum in Paris, establishing a sort of mirror of the cosmos. In this cosmological Big Bang, the stars govern the plane of formation of the material world, or astral plane, the necessary intermediary for any transformation or movement to take place, the engine of life, according to the Hermetic sciences. In this way, the moon and the sun, which in alchemy possesses a remarkable significance besides being the ultimate symbol of divinity in theosophical esotericism, are aligned and reflected on Earth."
