Artist Biography: José María Baez es un artista nacido en Jerez, Cádiz en 1949 y residente en Córdoba desde 1960. En 1980, recibió la Beca Nuevas Formas Expresivas del Ministerio de Cultura y ha sido galardonado con varios premios, entre ellos el Navarra de Pintura 1995 y el Martínez Guerricabeitia 1994.La obra de Baez se caracteriza por su exploración constante de la profundidad y el misterio del color, lo que lo sitúa dentro de la tradición pictórica moderna. Su trabajo se basa en la audacia de aceptar la fuerza y la simplicidad de las fluctuaciones de color que afectan nuestra percepción y evocan sensaciones naturales. Sus imágenes retienen al espectador, generando una conexión y un tiempo de recepción.Su obra ha sido exhibida en importantes colecciones nacionales y ha participado en numerosas exposiciones en España y Francia. Además, ha realizado intervenciones en espacios públicos destacando su mural efímero en el Claustro del Centre del Carme, IVAM en Valencia y su intervención en el Puente Romano de Córdoba. “Siempre procuré que las citas tuvieran capacidad de evocación, sin llegar a ser descriptivas. Que no fueran excesivamente explícitas ni convencionales, que tuvieran capacidad metafórica y referenciaran, con frecuencia, la propia especificidad de la pintura”, explica el artista José María Báez.
