Artist Biography: Medina Campeny (Matanzas, Cuba, 1985) is a contemporary artist who works primarily in painting and drawing. She graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, and has since participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world.Campeny's style is characterized by her use of the human figure as a means to explore social and political issues. His works are often introspective, enigmatic and mysterious, and use a soft color palette and pastel tones to create an ethereal and surreal atmosphere. In addition, her drawing and painting technique shows a mastery of line and composition.Campeny has received several awards and recognition for her work, including the ArtNexus Grant for International Residency in New York in 2017 and First Prize at the Biennial of Cuenca, Ecuador, in 2018. She has also been an artist in residence at Harvard University in the United States and at the Sacatar Institute in Brazil.Her work has been exhibited at major art institutions around the world, including the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Havana, the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam in Havana, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey in Mexico, and the Galería Joan Prats in Barcelona, Spain.
